3.4 Homework 9A and 9G

Homework is due on Monday 4 February 2008.

Complete the worksheet given in class. It is based on the question, “What should Christians do?” For each teaching of Jesus, you will need to consider how it can be applied by a Christian in everyday life. The quotes are below, in case you lose your sheet …

“Do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you”
“Anyone who looks at a woman and wants to possess her is guilty of committing adultery”
“When you give something to a needy person, do not make a big show of it.”
“Do not judge others and God will not judge you.”
“Let the children come to me, do not stop them.”
“Blessed are those that work for peace”
“Love your enemies and prayer for the those who are against you.”

3.3 Homework 9A and 9G

Homework due on Monday 28 February.

Jesus taught his followers to: “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”. Bitterness, being unable to forgive, destroys people from the inside.
Forgiving someone is not the same as saying that they did not do it, or letting people walk all over you, but it is important.

• You must explain why forgiveness is important.
• You should link in the Bible passages that you learnt about in class. (Luke 15:11-32 and Luke 19:1-10)
• You could link in the Parable of the Lost Sheep.

You will be given a worksheet in class to write your answer on. (If you click on the Bible links, you will be taken to the Bible Gateway site, where you can look up these Bible verses in a large number of different languages.)

3.2 Homework – 9A and 9G

Homework is due on Monday 21 January 2008.

Imagine you were Jesus – write a diary entry for each time you were tempted in the Wilderness and in the Garden of Gethsemane.
* You must write about exactly how you felt.
* You should write about why you reacted the way you did.
* You could write about how you found the strength to resist temptation.

You can read about this experience in Matthew 4:1-11.
